Trails to Discover at Red Top Mountain State Park
When you visit Red Top Mountain State Park, you’ll find a multitude of activities such as boating, shopping, putt-putt golf, camping, and hiking trails.
Whether you’re taking a break from the convention center or looking for things to do with your family, take some time to visit the parks near Cartersville. There are a variety of hiking and biking trails to try out, from the easier Lakeside Trail over to the moderately difficult Homestead Trail. No matter your choice, you and your family will have a great time hiking in the woods.
The Lighter Trails
For anyone looking to get out to the parks and commune with nature, the Sweet Gum Nature Trail, Iron Hill Trail, and White Tail Trail are the perfect routes to try. Taking you through the woods, over hills, and along Allatoona Lake, you’ll be happy you took time out of your relaxing weekend to walk among the trees.
The Heartier Trails
The Homestead Trail and Visitor Center Loop Trail are designed for those stronger in hiking and biking. The Homestead Trail is the longest at 5.5 miles long. Bring a lot of water for this hike through the forest and around Allatoona Lake. Homestead offers the best scenic views, but isn’t for the faint of heart. The Visitor Center Loop Trail is a short hike, but takes you through a heavy amount of forest. If you want to take a short break to relax there are platforms set up throughout the trail.
